Marron is the new black !
Candied chestnuts, stronger than ever!
Have you noticed the marked comeback of warmer colours this season? Softer than the usual black, brown is part of the winter 2023 colorama and Hailey Bieber wouldn’t say otherwise! Mahogany, mocha, caramel, hazelnut, leather, so many shades and pretty names for an otherwise highly underrated colour.
This tone, which is far more complex than it looks, is ideal for our all winter looks!
A colour that literally warms you to the core
If only in the collective imagination, when we think of chestnuts, we imagine a walk in the forest collecting chestnuts (and conkers of course). A hot chocolate under a blanket on Sunday afternoon, or a cappuccino on the terrace with friends. A colour which evokes sharing and conviviality; it’s no surprise that it replaces the previously unbeatable black. It’s true that this trend is very easy to adapt to our everyday life, but we can still give you some advice.
"Chocolate alone is sumptuous, at the end of a dinner it is superb, it is happiness, a rite, a ceremony. “
Bring a touch of colour
Yes, you're not dreaming, brown goes wonderfully with other colours. No need to always wear the same pair of black shoes, your brown boots will do just as well. Simple and effective, they break the monotony of a look. A monochrome model will allow you to match them with all your outfits, without going through the colour block box (aka colour superposition). To this, we have a very simple explanation: remember the painting workshops when you were in nursery school? To make brown, you simply had to mix several colours together (ex: blue / orange, red / green, purple /yellow). However you did it, by mixing your colour palette, you always ended up with brown! It is therefore only natural that this tone can easily be associated with other shades.
A little advice depending on the shades: a very light, very soft brown, bordering on beige, will go perfectly with a white outfit. You can take out your chunky, immaculate knitwear and your brown ankle boots with no problem. This will bring a little hint of warmth to a milky look. A glazed vibrant brown on a pair of faux leather boots with a square heel will be perfect with a little sweater dress. Yes, the seventies-inspired boot has still not finished surprising us.
To break up an all-black outfit
2023 finally sees the end of the all black look. Yet we’re not sure we’ll ever see the complete end of it; after all, it’s very practical (goodbye stains) and makes it easy to blend in with the crowd. But do we really want to go incognito? We’re not so sure. Be bold and add a touch of extravagance with shades of brown! This colour gives us a chic and refined look: this winter, put the long black wool coat to one side and take out the chocolate one instead. And even if you're in full black outfit, you don't have to wear entirely black shoes! Chocolate-coloured ankle boots will lighten your look. Yes, brown and black go well together; we dare you to try this combo and a two-tone look for an even more chic and sharp allure.
Brown is therefore THE colour for winter 2023 and can be matched to your mood every day. It can be refined or, on the contrary, simple, and casual; an infinite possibilities with a colour that warms our hearts. This trend is therefore very easy to follow, both in terms of shoes and outfits, because, let’s face it, we all have at least one brown item in our wardrobes just waiting to get some fresh air!
