Colour block trend and monochrome style : once you try it, you’ll never look back!
“Dopamine dressing”, from head to shoesing !
Did you say colour block trend? A phrase derived from an Anglicism, this simply refers to the trend of wearing several coloured pieces, "en bloc", so basically in a combined way. In short, it's the opposite of a neutral look, with dull colours and often monochrome! But beware: the colour block trend can also be monochrome... Let’s explain. Forget the beige, white, black, and grey looks that we have all adopted over recent years: for summer 2022, let’s make way for some flashy and tangy colours. This season, we’re looking at boosting our mood and are even putting a good dose of dopamine in our shoesing!
The colour block “all-over” (total look) is more than welcome! Beginner’s advice? Try the "half all-over” look by sprucing up your outfit with an accessory in a complementary colour (with a touch of orange and a small gold bag like us!)
Positive vibes and colours in the spotlight
Let's sum up this season's collections in one word: vitaminised! Tangy shades, bright colours; this summer, the flashier it is, the trendier it is! We own it and are not afraid of combining strong colours; and the choice is certainly plentiful: on the catwalk, we find candy pink, closely followed by bright orange. Citrus yellow has also proven its worth and green, purple, and even electric blue, also make an appearance. What do we particularly like about this trend? It’s free and ‘good vibes’ aura. Even better, it’s not limited to any particular age group, gender, or morphology and above all, virtually no particular clothes item or colour is imposed. When it comes to trends, this is a pretty rare thing, don’t you think? As a result, only good vibes and positivity emanate from such a colourful trend; how can you not succumb and find yourself tempted! With this trend, the only limits are those you put on yourself. Listen to your inner self and you’ll find the colour to accompany you all summer long....
The most beautiful colour in the world is the one that looks good on you
A bold trend...
Wearing colour is already considered pretty daring; so, what can be said when it becomes the main component of our chosen look? Just own it! There are two options: for the more adventurous, jump straight into a full monochrome colour block look with tone-on-tone pieces cut to perfection. For the more timid amongst you, start with a gradient colour block look: for us, this translates into gentle variations of red/orange. The first step on your colour journey. This pairing of red sneakers and an orange bag is pretty lush, don’t you think?
...and at the same time, it’s minimalist!
In actual fact, at first glance, "minimalist" is not the word that immediately comes to mind when considering the colour block trend. However, when we take a closer look.... Hey, where have the prints gone? Yep, this trend is focused on colours of all kinds, but it's goodbye to printed fabrics, polka dots, stripes, and Vichy checks! Fashion is definitely full of surprises. All you have to do is find the colour that matches both your complexion and state of mind, then take the plunge! On the VW side, we start with green, in order to do things right ;)
Conclusion
As daring as it is fabulous (providing it is correctly mastered) this trend deserves to be embraced as quickly as it is adopted. For us, the "dopamine wardrobe" is a no-brainer, and extends (thanks to us) to shoesing, with one single watchword: COLOUR!
