Mid-season shoe styling!
Winter’s a thing of the past, spring has sprung but still no sign of summer
In a nutshell, we haven’t a clue what to wear, and even less idea what shoes we should be wearing!
Although we can improvise with the season’s best combo, shirt and sweater, and take off a layer during the day, it’s not so easy when it comes to our feet. As our grandmothers kept telling us, “If you’ve got warm feet, you’ll be warm all over”: twenty years later, we hate to admit they were right.
What’s great about loafers is that you can wear socks with them in the morning, and whip them off if the day heats up later on.
The BTL Rule: “Boots, Trainers, Loafers”
Keep this in mind in April: this rule is as simple as it is helpful. Three shoes, three styles, three choices over four weeks: we’ll get through it. Let’s have a closer look:
- Boots: for a gentle transition from winter to spring, we’re betting on summery ankle boots, so we can show off a little leg but still keep our feet warm!
- Trainers: a safe bet if it’s rainy or windy, we’ve gone for a monochrome style with a few colored highlights. The VW team’s favorite: white lightning flash trainers with crocodile details, in five gorgeous colorways.
- Loafers: this mid-season’s it-shoes, they can easily be worn with bare feet or accompanied by a pair of socks on those breezier days.
Too early to put away your winter clothes in April!
Destination Far West
It’s that mid-season feeling - global warming, April showers: we just don’t know what to do next! Chilly first thing in the morning, temperatures doubling by lunchtime: it’s not easy. At times like this, your go-to friend is the ankle boot. Our tip is to choose boots in paler shades than your winter boots (so forget black) and our choice for the catwalk is the cowboy boot! Worn with colored pants, a Liberty print dress or a long, flared skirt, they’ll add an edge to your look. And an extra tip: we also love wearing them in the summer, combined with some denim shorts and a white T-shirt. Yes, we told you they’d be good friends!
Or the “chic - chill” option
Conclusion
With the BTL rule firmly in mind now, you’ll hold all the aces and picking the right shoes for the start of the 2021 season will be a piece of cake!
